うちの息子はドイツ語を習っていて、かなり得意だった（ドイツで本物のドイツ人相手に試したくらい :-)）。どの言語を学ぶのかは学校ごとに本当に違うよ。娘は日本語を習得して、今は日本で働いているよ。
My kid learnt German and he was pretty good at it (tested on real Germans in Germany :-)). Every school is different. My daughter did Japanese and she works in Japan now.

One might’ve thought that the English language would be number one, or at least in top 3, languages taught in Australia. It probably should say “foreign languages” as that’s what the maps about obviously.

Chinese and Japanese are good choices. If you were fluent in one of these then you will be very useful since Australia does a lot of business with these countries. Indonesian, not so much, but we do some business with them, so it's not totally useless.
